Rika Yokomori
Novelist and Essayist
She was born in Yamanashi Prefecture on May 19, 1963 and
grew up there.
Rika Yokomori attended the Tama Art University
(Tamabijutsu Daigaku) in Tokyo where she studied graphic
design and movie design. She also created video art, made
video dramas, wrote scripts for dramas and movie critiques
while she was a university student...
After graduating from university she wrote for a column
dealing with movies, art and social trends. She moved to
New York City and lived there for two years. During this
time she was a columnist for a Japanese magazine on the
culture of New York. She also began writing her first
novel there.
Upon returning back to Tokyo, she wrote a number of
articles for Crea, a women's magazine dealing with her
experiences. At the age of 29, she had her first novel
published, New York Night Trip.
In the 1980's Ms. Yokomori published her well known novel,
such as Bogichin- The Tale of Pure Love, which dealt with
love modern-day Japan. This novel realistically
illustrated the independence of Japanese women. The
Japanese Literature Publishing Project (JLPP) selected her
novel, Tokyo Tango, to be recongized and translated into
English. It is currently on sale in the UK and the United
States.

In Germany, her novels, Love and Eat, Tokyo Tango
were translated into German and published.
In Corea,her essay,65 ways to be Happy was
translated and published.
Her essays dealing with women's living issues like natural diet,
wellness,maternity,child care,life style
,aging & many other topics/issues have been widely acknowledged.
